Yule-tide

Today on the first Sunday of advent we start to prepare for Christmas. In

Norway and the other Scandinavian countries we still use the old norse word JUL (yule) for Christmas. Originally we celebrated a midwinter feast, making sacrifice for a rich harvest, around January the 12th, halfway between winter- and summer solstice. I love Christmas and the old traditional music. It lights up the hearts in the deepest way and warm us in this cold, dark season.

I want to share with you an arrangement I wrote for the wonderful vocal ensemble KSS, from the album "Arme jord ha jole(yule)fred". This video won European Choral Video Award 2012.

You can find the music on my site as an arrangement for treble voices.
